In utter despair, I decided to draw upon a true legend for retirement etiquette. I made a Mecca to the only source I know. I went and visited my 86 year old grandfather and 84 year old grandmother. They really didn't understand my situation or my humor, but I knew that if I could shadow them for a few hours, I might be enlightened as to the virtues of a semi-transient state. We went to Kmart to look for some sales. Who knew you could get half dead aloe vera plants in a cracked pot for less than 3 dollars. I have a few birthdays in the family coming up so I know this trip was not in vain.We continued on to the Terri Lynn Confections outlet store. Again, who knew you could get month old pecans for half price. They will even refund your money if you find mold in them. How kind. We were a couple of hours into our sojourn when we realized we had precisely 12 minutes to get home. In retired life, there is some cosmic penalty for not eating lunch at noon, but the biggest of all penalties arises if you don't eat dinner at 5pm sharp. Luckily, we had planned for all three of us to eat together. Even better, my grandparents were kind enough to share the cheese blintzes and perogis they brought home last night as left overs.

With a day of knowledge transfered and a trunk full of pecans, 2 aloe vera plants and a small tupperware container of cookies (though they want the container back), I was on my way home. With true direction for the next 22 days and excitement to share my learnings with Kacey and Maddie, I drove home. Of course, at exactly 55 and in the middle lane (I guess its safer).
